School Digital Skills Programme
MS Office & Digital Skills Programme for Schools in Sierra Leone
Many pupils in Sierra Leone have limited access to computers and practical digital learning. DEWIVO is developing a school-based programme to bring structured opportunities to learn with computers and digital tools closer to students.
Students should not have to wait until university before they have meaningful access to computers and digital technology.
Proposed learning focus
Start with practical digital capability.
The goal is not simply to place computers in schools. It is to create meaningful learning opportunities around them, so students can build knowledge, confidence and useful skills.
- Computer fundamentals and file management
- Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Internet use and online research
- Email and digital communication
- Digital safety and responsible technology use
- Practical use of everyday digital tools
A school-based partnership model
Build the learning environment together.
The participating school
Provides the educational environment, supports access to pupils and works with DEWIVO to shape delivery around the school context.
DEWIVO
Proposes to provide the technology-focused programme, training, learning resources and technical support, with responsibilities agreed before implementation.
Technology companies, NGOs, development organizations, donors and other supporters may contribute computers, connectivity, software, sponsorship, training resources, technical expertise or financial support. Contributions would form part of a shared, sustainable implementation plan, not a stand-alone equipment donation.
Current status The programme is in development and seeking school and strategic partners for implementation. No participating schools, funding, outcomes or accreditation are being claimed.
A structured certificate or diploma pathway may be explored in future, subject to programme development and appropriate accreditation. DEWIVO is not currently claiming to issue an accredited diploma.
